The Coalition Against Corruption is an alliance of the private sector,
non-government organizations, and the Church that fights corruption. Launched in September 21, 2004, its mission is to implement and support counter-corruption projects, initially in the area of procurement and delivery of essential public services, and inspire ordinary citizens to join in efforts to combat corruption.
The projects include training observers for Bids and Awards Committees, monitoring of textbooks with the Department of Education, monitoring of medicines with the Department of Health, Internal Revenue Allotment Watch, Pork Barrel Watch, Lifestyle Check program, and prosecution and investigation support on the Comelec cases and other corruption cases.
The members of the coalition are the Makati Business Club (MBC), Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and its National Secretariat for Social Action (NASSA), Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference for Human Development (BBC), Caucus of Development NGO Networks (Code NGO), National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), and the Transparency and Accountability Network (TAN).
