BIR sets hearing on new VAT regulation

30 May 2005—The Bureau of Internal Revenue has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed implementing rules of the VAT Regulations of 2005 (RA 9337) on Wednesday, 01 June 2005, 9:00 a.m. at the National Training Center Auditorium, BIR National Office Compound, Agham Road, Quezon City. Comments and recommendations on the regulation can be sent through e-mail at nelson.aspe@bir.gov.ph.

Policy and the way it is implemented can be the basis of a country’s behavior. Since laws are the guiding principles on what is prohibited and what is not, each citizen must know and understand clearly the duties of public officials and the limits of their powers to prevent any abuse.

There are numerous laws and regulations tackling the subject of graft and corruption. Currently, the main references are the Revised Penal Code, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and the 1987 Constitution (Article XI).
